Nicolas Colsaerts

Age: 29
From: Belgium

Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts makes his Ryder Cup debut (though he did play in the Junior Ryder Cups of 1997 and 1999) at the Medinah Country Club, as one of Jose Maria Olazabal’s wildcard picks, with an impressive family sporting heritage to live up to. His great grandfather represented his country at water polo and basketball at the 1920 Olympic Games – something the 29 year old will almost certainly be in a position to do in Rio in four year’s time, when golf makes its debut at the Games. AS a child, Colsaerts spent hours watching golf on TV at home in Belgium – and is thrilled he’s now about to participate in the game’s greatest show. “I spent hours and hours downstairs watching tapes of golf while my mum and dad were asleep upstairs. This French golf would go to air at 7am on
Sunday mornings and I loved watching that.” Off the course, the Belgian is a self-confessed clown and lover of house music.
