Taught by his father, García began playing golf at the age of three, winning his first club championship at age 12. He joined the European Tour in 1999, at the age of 19, and played in the Ryder Cup at Brookline the same year – the youngest player ever to do so. García has played in five Ryder Cups, three of them in victorious European sides - notably as playing partner to this year’s Captain Jose Maria Olazabel in key matches at Ireland’s K Club in 2006. He is a keen poker player, having played on the Poker Stars Tour.
