Paul Lawrie

Born on New Years Day, 1969, Lawrie won the Open Championship in 1999 and played in the Ryder Cup at Brookline the same year. He founded the Paul Lawrie Foundation two years later to support and encourage the game of golf in under-18s. Lawrie recalls buying a new suit for the prize-giving ceremony after his first Pro win at the Scottish Assistants Championship at Cruden Bay. An ardent Aberdeen FC fan, he cites his sporting heroes as Alex Ferguson and Sandy Lyle, and his favourite car as a Ferrari 550 Maranello.
